How a bespoke corset works
A corset is a garment which is designed specifically to shape the body by compression. When made properly, a corset gains strength, from the resistance of the body because it creates an even and constant pressure over the area where it is worn. The work of a corsetiere is therefore very skilled because consideration must be given to the pressure points of the body and how the body and the corset will interact with eachother for the best possible effect both in terms of aesthetic and comfort.
In other words, a corset, though restrictive, should not be uncomfortable or cause pain either by pinching or by putting strain on the wrong parts of the body and it therefore goes without saying that a corset must be constructed bearing fully in mind, the skeletal structure and physiological attributes of each individual body - in order for the body to have a smooth silhouette, the corset must have a smooth transition between it and the flesh.
MarmaladeKiss corsets are constructed with smoothness in mind, not only as a finish to the end product but as a finish to the entire look and will:
- Mould and hold the body into a desired shape painlessly
- Be adjustable for comfort
- Be strong and unyeilding
- Feel like a strong ‘hug’
- Support the skeletal structure, not strain the back
- Make the wearer stand tall, and therefore straight
- Improve posture
- Smooth out lumps and bumps
